Transforming a Driveway
Surrey
A tired driveway transformed with cleaner materials, stabilised gravel and black-painted boundaries that make the planting stand out.
The Brief
A smarter first impression.
The existing driveway and fencing felt tired and unremarkable. The project replaced old Indian sandstone with porcelain paving and used a soldier course of multi bricks for definition.
Design Thinking
Hand drawn before it is built.
Every project begins by hand, with drawings that explore how the garden should move, settle and feel before anything is built. The plan considers the house, the light, the views from inside and the quiet details that make a space feel personal rather than standard.
These early sketches shape the planting, materials, levels and moments of pause. They give the team a clear design language to build from, so the finished garden feels considered from the first line on paper to the final planting.
The Project
Gravel made practical.
The gravel driveway was laid in stabilising matting, preventing shingle from moving and making it easier to wheel bikes and bins across the drive.
Design Response
Black boundaries, stronger planting.
Painting the fence and storage cupboards black gives the planting a stronger backdrop and creates more depth around the driveway.
