Narrow Garden Landscaping Ideas
Teddington
A long, narrow Teddington garden redesigned to feel broader, more generous and more enjoyable from end to end.
The Brief
A narrow plot with room to transform.
The garden was a true blank canvas. The design visually broadens the space by creating a sinuous journey, with raised vertical sleeper beds and a pergola adding immediate height and structure.
Design Thinking
Hand drawn before it is built.
Every project begins by hand, with drawings that explore how the garden should move, settle and feel before anything is built. The plan considers the house, the light, the views from inside and the quiet details that make a space feel personal rather than standard.
These early sketches shape the planting, materials, levels and moments of pause. They give the team a clear design language to build from, so the finished garden feels considered from the first line on paper to the final planting.
The Project
A path that makes the garden feel wider.
Tumbled sandstone setts create a characterful route through the lawns, leading to a Jura Limestone terrace in front of the new gym at the end of the garden.
Design Response
Deeper planting without making maintenance harder.
The planting areas follow the curves of the garden, giving authority and depth to the scheme without creating unmanageable beds.
